McAdie & Reeve have a vacancy for a Removals/Deliveries Porter at our Kirkwall depot.

A full driving license is required for this role.

We are a customer-focused company and the main part of the job role is to assist loading and unloading of removals trucks and vans, at customers’ homes, and businesses with a high standard of care. Removals experience is not essential, as training will be provided.

Part of the removals process often involves dismantling and reassembly furniture, packing clothes, books, ornaments, fragile glass and crockery, care of artwork, moving pianos, etc. so please note that heavy lifting is frequently required.

As we operate nationwide, and occasionally into Europe, there will be a requirement to work away from home on a rotational basis, assisting our HGV drivers in distance work. You will learn haulage load management and journey planning, and get hands-on experience in moving items such as heavy plant machinery, vehicles, and other one-off specialist items among many other things.

Within the depot, you will be required to assist with general store work to ensure high standards are kept throughout; to help ensure ease of unloading and re-distributing of weekly truck loads; organising customer access as necessary; stock management of packaging materials, among other duties, required.
